ORDER : 1. The petitioner applied for obtaining certified copy of the sale deed bearing no. 3342 of 1961, Book No. I, Vol. No. 42, pages 41 to 43, DSR, Jalpaiguri. 2. The copy of the deed which was supplied to the petitioner is absolutely illegible. Not a word from the said deed can be read. 3. The petitioner thereafter applied before the District Registrar to furnish legible copy of the said document. The District Registrar did not pay any heed to the request made by the petitioner for furnishing legible copy of the required sale deed. Accordingly, the present writ petition has been filed. 4. Photocopy of the said deed is annexed with the said writ petition. Admittedly, the same is absolutely illegible. 5. Accordingly, the District Registrar is directed to provide legible copy of the aforesaid document to the petitioner within a fortnight from date upon compliance of all necessary formalities. 6. During the course of hearing of the present writ petition it has been submitted by the learned advocates appearing on behalf of both the parties that this is a problem which is being faced on regular basis by the parties who apply before the registering authority for obtaining certified copies of the registered documents. 7. The District Registrar is directed to ensure that when certified copy of a registered document is applied for, then legible copy should always be provided to the applicants; otherwise, the applicants will be required to approach Court for obtaining order for supplying legible copy of the documents they require. 8. Let this order be communicated by the learned Registrar of this Court to the District Registrar and the other Sub-Registrars within the jurisdiction for compliance. 9. Writ petition stands disposed of.
